Ascom expands Cardiomax with Philips Patient Monitoring
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. -- A leading supplier of mission critical on-site wireless communications, Ascom is pleased to announce its second release of Cardiomax powered by the Unite Professional messaging and alarm platform. Ascom Cardiomax is a medical device cleared by the United States FDA Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH).
As Tom McKearney, SVP Marketing & Business Development explains; this year, Ascom launched its first release of Cardiomax with FDA 510(k) clearance for mobile alerts of patient monitoring alarm integration with Mind-Ray, Nihon-Kohden and SpaceLabs. We have now further enhanced our Cardiomax portfolio by adding integration to Philips IntelliVue HL7-based Patient Monitoring systems. The newest release of Cardiomax also improved the advanced alert filtering mechanisms, as well as simplified the administration and configuration set-up. The advanced filtering mechanisms improve the communication and mobility for healthcare staff and greatly reduce the risk of alarm fatigue. As Philips is one of the leading vendors of Patient Monitoring systems globally, we are very pleased to add them to our list of highly requested integrations. Our investments in Patient Monitoring and Cardiomax have proven that Ascom is a major provider of medical connectivity solutions and we are delighted to start shipping immediately to a number of our core customers.
Cardiomax is a component within the Unite integration suite and provides an interface to Patient Monitoring Systems that forward alarm information to Ascom handsets or a wide variety of display devices, including pagers, mobile handsets and LED signs. It provides near real time alarms intended to serve as a parallel, redundant, forwarding mechanism to inform healthcare professionals of particular medical related events captured by Patient Monitoring Systems. The display device can provide a combination of visual, audio and vibratory awareness mechanisms upon receipt of the secondary alert notification. Cardiomax has been designed to integrate with a variety of both standards-based and proprietary Patient Monitoring Systems.
